About haymatfilm

haymatfilm is a German word and means homeland film. The spelling mistake in the word haymat is intentional. It is a reference to the life of Lidija Mirkovic in Germany as an undesirable resident alien and second-generation immigrant. This misspelling is taken from the term haymatloz, which was created by the Turkish administration in the thirties of the 20th century for stateless persons, mostly Jews, who fled out of Nazi German. Lidija Mirkovic is not a Jew, but a Gypsy from her mother’s side.
